Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Moroccan full-back Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid on a two-year long loan deal. Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said, “Achraf Hakimi is a young, very dynamic full-back who has played at the very highest level with Real Madrid and the Morocco national team.”
The 19-year old Moroccan began playing in Real Madrid’s youth teams from 2006 when he was just 8 years old. He was in the youth side till 2016 before going to Los Blancos’ B team Real Madrid Castilla. He played there during the 2016-17 season before being promoted to the main squad.
The Moroccan made 17 appearances for Real last season across all competitions, scoring two league goals. An attacking full-back, Hakimi made his debut for Morocco last year and has been a regular ever since. He played every minute of Morocco’s campaign at the 2018 World Cup where his team were out in the first hurdle.
Hakimi is BVB’s first loan signing and sixth signing during the transfer window. He will be joining the team during their pre-season tour of the U.S.
