Recently promoted side set for Summer transfers

AFC Bournemouth are showing interest in AS Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov and are keen on bringing him back to the Premier League after 18-months away.

The Bulgarian target-man has been in France since January 2014, after he agreed to leave Fulham in order to secure a short-term loan deal, which eventually turned into a permanent one over the Summer.

Monaco in Trouble

However, Berbatov‘s future is uncertain, with Monaco in trouble with UEFA after breaching rules.

The French side have just been fined £9.5million and will only be allowed to register a 22-man squad for next season, meaning they are going to have to cut down.

Bournemouth’s Success Story

With Berbatov’s future far from certain, Bournemouth are ready to pounce after securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.

Eddie Howe‘s men shocked the Championship by finishing top of the table and guaranteeing themselves top-flight football next season.

At the beginning of the year, Bournemouth were 16/1 to win the Championship, but after Watford conceded a last-minute equaliser to Sheffield Wednesday, Howe’s men leapfrogged them onto top spot.

Summer Plans

Now Summer changes are set to take place at the club and a transfer wishlist has already been put together with Berbatov topping the list.

The 34-year-old is reportedly keen on having one last chance in England before he calls time on his career and The Cherries could offer him the perfect opportunity.

Berbatov had a successful stint in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United from 2006-2012, and is keen on one last outing before he retires.

Financial Differences

Despite the interest, Howe has admitted that the club won’t be able to offer huge transfer fees and will certainly not be able to match his £100k-a-week contract, but he is keen on holding talks with the Ligue 1 club and the striker to discuss a potential deal.
