Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic knows how crucial tonight’s game is with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, and believes it is massive for this season’s Premier League title race.
Ahead of the match, City sit second in the league, but could go top if they are victorious tonight. As for Chelsea, they are third in the table and they know if they lose tonight, they will fall six points behind City and alo five points behind second-place Arsenal.
It’s going to be a tough task for Ivanovic and co. as they travel to a place where no-one has managed to pick up a single point so far this season, but the centre-back is adamant that the players are ready for what lies ahead.
“When you want to win the title you never win it in the one game, so you have to play hard all season long. But for us it’s a massive game and the crucial game for us this season is this one against Man City.”
“We have improved massively as a team. We are staying together, we are fighting together, we control the ball well and we know the performances of team-mates better – a lot of small details that we have improved.
“This is the biggest challenge for us this season but I think we are ready for it.
“We have to be focused. It can be psychologically very important and very good for us but we know the way and we will try to do everything to stay fighting for the title until the end of the season.”
