Serbian could agree to leave Chelsea this month

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is on the brink of leaving the Premier League club in order to join Serie A side AC Milan, according to reports.

The Serbian centre-back has just six-months remaining on his contract, meaning he can now talk to clubs overseas and can agree to a pre-contract with them ahead of the summer.

The Bosman Ruling means Ivanovic can sign a pre-agreement with any club who isn’t in England, and then join them on a free transfer as soon as his contract expires at Stamford Bridge.

With no contract talks in place for him at Chelsea, it looks like they are ready to allow him to leave once his current deal expires in July.

Milan Battle

According to reports, Serie A duo AC Milan and Inter Milan are both keen on signing the 31-year-old, but it looks like the former could be in pole position.

It was expected that it would be Inter landing Ivanovic, but recent reports have claimed that their fierce-rivals have also got involved in the negotiations and also want to bring the Chelsea defender to the San Siro.

Ivanovic has struggled throughout the season, seemingly failing to cope with the right-back role.
