Brazil legend Ronaldo has become the majority owner of La Liga club Real Valladolid. The former Real Madrid and Barcelona player bought 51% of the club’s shares from its President Carlos Suarez. Reports claim that he paid around €30 million.

Valladolid returned to La Liga  after four years by gaining promotion from the Segunda Division playoffs. Ronaldo said, We want Real Valladolid to consolidate in the top flight and keep building hopes from there. It will not stop there because we want to grow to where our hopes allow us to.”

President Suarez said, “The arrival of Ronaldo puts Valladolid on the map and will allow the club to take a leap forward in quality. I welcome him to his home.”

Real Valladolid are currently 16th in the La Liga table. They have drawn against Girona and Getafe and lost against Barcelona. The club’s next La Liga fixture is against Alaves on September 16.
