Arsenal boss reveals damage to injured trio

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Santi Cazorla and Laurent Koscielny should be okay for next weekend, but admits he has no idea about Alexis Sanchez.

Koscielny was the first to pick up an injury during the 1-1 draw with Norwich City, as he pulled up holding his hip in the first-half.

It’s not yet known what’s wrong with the centre-back, but Wenger believes he should be okay for next weekend’s game against Sunderland.

Following Koscielny was Alexis and the Chilean visibly pulled up holding his already-damaged hamstring. The winger was a doubt before the game, but Wenger took the risk and it may have backfired.

Lastly, Cazorla took a knock on his knee but despite that, he continued the game and finished the 90-minutes.

Updates

As expected, Wenger was asked about the trio after the game, and he had this to say on the injuries.

On Cazorla: “When he was down he got a kick on the knee. It got worse during the game.”

On Alexis: “Despite our tests before the game he looked alright. He had nothing.”

“We lost Alexis Sanchez, I do not know how long he will be out but it is a big blow. Cazorla finished on one leg, Koscielny we will have to assess tomorrow.

“Sanchez was an important loss today, he pushes defenders back and always is incisive with his dribbling.

“Santi Cazorla finished on one leg, he has a knee problem, Alexis Sanchez has a thigh problem and Laurent Koscielny has a hip problem.

“I would have rested Sanchez today but he said to me before the game he was fine to play.”
