Real Madrid and Manchester United fail to finalise in time

David De Gea could be forced to stay at Manchester United after Real Madrid failed to hand in the necessary paperwork in time to finalise the transfer.

The Spanish transfer window slammed shut this evening, and according to reports in Spain, the club didn’t hand over the paperwork in time with the deadline.

Both clubs had agreed on a deal, which would have seen Keylor Navas go in the opposite direction, plus cash, but with the paperwork not handed over in time, it looks like the proposed deal may be off.

It’s not yet understood whether Navas will still complete a move to Old Trafford, but it looks like De Gea could be forced to stay put with the club until at least January.

The goalkeeper has 12-months left on his current contract, so could leave the club for free this time next year, meaning United may miss out on ÂŁ30million.

Deal Off?

The shocking news broke moments ago when Spanish expert, Guillem Balague, confirmed that the paperwork didn’t arrive on time.

A presentation was ready and organised by Madrid, but they didn’t get the vital documents handed in on time, meaning De Gea won’t be able to sign.

The deal was all agreed, but as it stands, no move will be able to happen.
