The young striker commits his future to the club

Manchester United’s James Wilson has signed a new contract which will see him stay at the club until at least June 2019.

The 19-year old, who is a product of the academy system at Old Trafford, also has the option to extend his stay a further year.

Wilson has scored four goals in 18 first team appearances for the Red Devils, including a brace on his debut in a 3-1 home victory over Hull City in 2014.

The centre forward has also represented England at under 21 level on one occasion, a cap which he marked with a debut goal.

‘He is a very talented forward player’

When speaking to the official club website, United boss Louis van Gaal said: “James is one of the brightest young English prospects and we are delighted he has signed a new contract.

He is a very talented forward player and has a keen eye for goal. His development is continuing in the right direction and it is clear to see that he has a fine future ahead of him.”

Wilson himself added: “I have been at United since I was seven years old and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far. Growing up at the club has been an incredible experience and I feel it stands me in good stead for continuing my development as a Manchester United player.

I am delighted to have signed a new contract and look forward to playing a part in the team for many years to come.”
