Midfielder set to sign for West Ham United
Free agent Joey Barton is currently having a medical at West Ham United, according to Sky Sports News.
The controversial midfielder has been without a club following his release from Queens Park Rangers over the summer, but he is now close to signing for The Hammers.
QPR decided to release the midfielder following their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship due to his excessive wage, with some reports claiming he was on £75k-a-week.
Change at Upton Park
West Ham have already made several summer signings as they continue to change under new manager Slaven Bilic, and Barton will add some metal to the heart of their midfielder.
Bilic got his Premier League management career off to a flying start by beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
