Centre-back set to join Black Cats

Sunderland are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Younes Kaboul after the Frenchman had a medical at the club.

The 29-year-old has had two separate stints at White Hart Lane during his career, with the first coming back in 2007, before he left to join Portsmouth the following year.

However, the defender returned to North London in 2010 and has remained at the club ever since.

Role Change at WHL

Despite being captain of the club over the past few years, his role within the club has diminished and his game-time has declined drastically, especially under Mauricio Pochettino.

Kaboul‘s game-time was expected to be further restricted next season after the arrival of Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid, but it’s emerged that he’s set to sign for Premier League rivals Sunderland.

It’s thought the deal could be worth £5million, but the centre-back is currently undergoing a medical with The Black Cats ahead of a proposed switch.
