Reds secure fourth summer signing
Liverpool Football Club have announced their fourth summer signing after the arrival of Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic was finalised.
The Reds announced the transfer today after the 18-year-old underwent a medical in the week. Gomez is a defender, who has made 24 senior appearances for the Championship club, but will now link up with Brendan Rodgers and the Premier League side.
Gomez becomes Liverpool‘s fourth signing already this summer, joining James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan.
The teenager is a versatile defender who can play all across the back-line, and speaking to the club’s official website, he’s revealed his delight at signing for the Merseyside club.
The fee being reported is around £3.5million, making him the club’s most expensive signing so far after the previous trio joined on free transfer.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term deal.
Gomez told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s a dream come true. It’s a bit surreal and it hasn’t really hit me yet. But I’m buzzing and just excited to get started.
“The club has got great history and it’s a great club, and one that I’ve always been following from when I was young.
“The style of football and the top players here was somewhere that I wanted to go and get better and learn, and play good football. It was an easy decision.”
