AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen enquired about defender

Liverpool Football Club have rejected initial approaches from both AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen for centre-back Mamadou Sakho.

The Frenchman was left out of the match-day squad during the opening game of the season against Stoke City, with Brendan Rodgers preferring to field Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel as the centre-back pairing.

Sakho was then left out of the squad for the first game at Anfield on Monday night when The Reds faced AFC Bournemouth, with the manager once again opting for Lovren and Skrtel.

Despite not picking him in either squads, Rodgers has confirmed that he wants to keep the centre-back at the club and has urged him to fight for his starting spot.

Sakho Approach

However, Roma and Leverkusen have both tested Liverpool‘s resilience to keep the Frenchman by approaching them for his services.

According to Sky Sports News however, the Premier League outfit have rejected all approaches from the Serie A and Bundesliga sides.
