Red Devils reportedly make £28.6million bid for Real Madrid defender
According to Sky Sports News, Manchester United have launched a formal bid for Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with signing a new defender in recent weeks, and it’s been Ramos who has been their top priority, and according to reports this evening, they have made their first move by making a bid worth £28.6m.
United are in desperate need for defensive reinforcements after heavily relying on youth players last season, with Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett featuring more than expected.
United’s Defensive Reinforcements
Mats Hummels and Nicolas Otamendi have been strongly linked with moves to Old Trafford, but Louis Van Gaal has made Ramos his number-one target.
The news comes just hours after the club announced Phil Jones‘ new deal at the club, but his first-team opportunities could be limited next season if they can secure Ramos.
The Spaniard has fallen out with officials at the Bernabeu after several contract talks broke down, and it’s now believed that he could be sold this summer with Raphael Varane taking his place in the first-team.
As well as the offer being launched, Sky Sources have claimed Ramos has informed Madrid that he wants to leave the club this summer and wants to join Manchester United.
