Liverpool announce defender has signed extension
Liverpool Football Club have announced that Martin Skrtel has signed a three-year contract extension at Anfield.
The Slovakian has been in talks with the club over the past few months, but it was speculated that he may leave after he was left insulted by the club’s first contract offer.
Contract Talks
Liverpool‘s board offered the centre-back a ‘pay-as-you-play’ deal, which was deemed unacceptable by Skrtel and his representatives.
However, The Reds have now confirmed that the defender has penned a new deal at the club.
Skrtel has been at Anfield for seven-and-a-half years and is considered one of their best players, providing them with much-needed experience at the back.
