Sterling to tell hierarchy that he wants a move in the summer:

Raheem Sterling is set to inform Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave Liverpool in the summer, according to BBC Sport.

The 20-year-old, who has already rejected a new ÂŁ100,000-a week deal to remain at Anfield, and has has his future at Liverpool come under an increasing amount of doubt in recent weeks.

And the England international is set to tell both Rodgers, and Ian Ayre that he wants out of the Merseyside outfit, when the trio are scheduled to meet on Friday.

Sterling is reportedly unhappy with how Liverpool dealt with contract talks, having felt betrayed by a lack of support from the club after a recent interview which he gave to the BBC.

In the interview with the broadcaster, he stated that he”talks about winning trophies” rather than the money that he is currently on at Liverpool, as Sterling is on ÂŁ35,000-a week wage as things currently stand.

He reportedly told the Liverpool manager of his intention to depart in the summer before the recent 1-1 draw away at Chelsea, with several top European sides keen on the services of the starlet.

Despite the recent developments, Liverpool remain adamant that they will not let Sterling leave in the summer transfer window, with the player currently tied down until the summer of 2017. Rodgers recently stated that the player would not leave at at any price over the summer:

The Liverpool manager said recently: “Raheem won’t be going anywhere this summer, even if there’s not a deal agreed.”

“Liverpool are one of the superpowers of football and if the owners don’t want to sell, they don’t have to.”

Interest from elsewhere:

Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid remain three of the front-runners for Sterling’s signature, should he be made available for transfer at his own request.

City, who are keen to recruit young British talent over the course of the transfer window, and view Sterling as one of their priority targets

A key member for both club and country so far this season, Sterling has made 59 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net 12 times.
