Former Liverpool captain calls time on career
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has announced his retirement from football.
Gerrard has been playing as MLS side LA Galaxy for the last 18 months but recently departed the club. There was speculation that he would go to several different clubs as a player, including both Milan clubs, Celtic and even back to Liverpool.
However, he has instead decided to call time on his playing career, with management or coaching looking likely to be his next options.
He broke into the Liverpool side in 1998, and will be remembered for his incredible leadership and performances in a Reds shirt.
He had some incredible moments, particularly in the Champions League, not only did he win the competition in 2005, but he scored some iconic goals during his career that fans will remember as part of Liverpool history.
It will be interesting to see what the former Reds skipper does next.
