New boss takes helm at Old Trafford
Jose Mourinho has officially been appointed the new manager of Manchester United.
Mourinho has been linked with United basically since he was sacked by Chelsea in December, despite Louis van Gaal still being in the job. However, with Van Gaal being sacked on Monday the path was clear for Mourinho to move to Manchester.
Negotiations had stalled over the last few days due to complicated image rights surrounding Mourinho, with Chelsea owning the rights to use the Portuguese boss’ name until 2025.
It’s thought that Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be following him to the Premier League, after leaving PSG at the end of last season. The big striker is yet to play in England and has said today he will consider only United to be an English destination, however, he is also considering big-money offers from China.
