Clubs agree fee for centre-back

West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United have agreed a fee for the sale of Jonny Evans, according to Sky Sports News.

The centre-back is deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and Louis Van Gaal told him before the start of the season that he can find a new club.

Evans Departure

Despite United not signing a centre-back so far this summer, Van Gaal is confident in his options and doesn’t see Evans as a viable option for the season.

Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Daley Blind are the recognised central defenders at the club, but after securing Champions League football during the week, Van Gaal may splash the cash one more time before Tuesday’s deadline.

As of yet the fee for Evans hasn’t been revealed, but the deal should be completed over the weekend.

With Evans expected to arrive, it could see the departure of Joleon Lescott, who has been linked with a move away from The Hawthorns.
