Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a third bid in the region of £10million from Norwich City for striker Benik Afobe.

The Championship side have confirmed that their striker is not for sale as they prepare a bid to gain promotion to the Premier League this campaign.

Norwich are desperate to sign a proven goal-scorer, and have already had two bids rejected but have continued their hopes to sign the England U21 international.

A Wolves statement read: “Wolves can confirm that a third bid from Norwich City for Benik Afobe has been immediately rejected.

“The club’s position, outlined on Wednesday, 19th August 2015, remains unchanged.”

The Wanderers are adamant that they will keep the 22-year-old who netted on 32 occassions last term, after arriving from Arsenal for approximately £2million in January.

Afobe scored 13 goals for Wolves after his move from the Gunners, with him scoring 19 while on loan at MK Dons earlier on in the season.

The striker was not present for their 2-1 Capital One Cup win over Barnet on Tuesday, and afterwards manager Kenny Jackett is determined to keep him at Molineux beyond transfer deadline day.

After the victory, Jackett said: “There is an enormous amount of speculation but he won’t be leaving. There are big things at stake and it is not just about one player.

“We are looking at the whole picture, the amount of time left in the window, the overall prices. There is so much to consider and everything points towards not letting anyone go.” he added.
