Liverpool boss confirms club are looking to sell

Liverpool will be selling players before the transfer window shuts, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Reds have had a very busy summer so far in the window, with mainly new players arriving, and the Northern Irishman now expects the club to be busy in selling players.

Rodgers has signed seven new players for Liverpool, with; Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke, James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne all arriving at Anfield over the summer.

However, the club are now looking to sell some players with a few linked with moves away.

Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Lucas Leiva and Jose Enrique are all expected to leave the club before the September deadline, and Rodgers has confirmed that the club are looking to sell.

Outgoings

“It is natural at this stage of the season,” said Rodgers. “There will be moves I am sure for some players What is clear is every player is of the understanding of exactly where he stands in his squad.

“The spirit is strong, the spirit is fine but it is difficult situation the transfer market with it being open until the end of the month.

“There is always going to be speculation, but I am sure there will some movement from some of the players who want to play.”

Duo To Stay

 

Two players that have been linked with moves away are Lazar Markovic and Alberto Moreno, but Rodgers has confirmed that those two will be staying put.

“Both are good players and maybe for the first time in their careers they will find they are not regulars,” said Rodgers, whose side host Bournemouth on Monday.

“But they know very well from the conversations we have had that they will be needed. They have been told that.”
