Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had a bit of a cheeky dig at Arsenal following Suarez`s outstanding four goal blitz against Norwich, suggesting the striker may now be worth £40million and TWO pounds.
Rodgers comments were aimed at the Gunners pursuit for the Liverpool frontman in the summer when they failed in two bids to land the Uruguayan, the second bid being £40m and one pound.
Arsenal mistakenly believed that fee would trigger a release clause, however there was no such stipulation in Suarez’s contract and Rodgers and Liverpool are now reaping the rewards of keeping hold of their top striker.
Rodgers was smiling after Suarez scored a sensational four goals against the Canaries on Wednesday night.
‘It’s a joy to watch and I still think his best years are going to be here – you can just see it’s a hand-in-glove fit for him. He enjoys it here, it’s the happiest I’ve seen him,’ insisted Rodgers.
‘He has such a connection with this club and Anfield, he has a massive profile here and he feels so much at home. And don’t forget we create the conditions for him to produce his best.
‘That was sheer brilliance, I haven’t seen many individual performances like that before.
