Brendan Rodgers plots Berahino bid

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has lined up Saido Berahino as his number one target ahead of the January transfer window, in order to solve the Reds’ goal-scoring crisis.

Since Luis Suarez departed for Barcelona this summer, the Premier League runners up have found goals are rarity. Liverpool’s forwards have only managed one goal in the league this season, via Daniel Sturridge, and as the England striker is out until the New Year, Rodgers has identified Berahino as the solution to the problem.

The 21 year-old received his first England call-up this month after an impressive start to the season with West Bromwich Albion. The England international has seven goals in the Premier League this season and the Baggies are desperate to hold onto the youngster.

Alan Irvin would be reluctant to let him go and so he could cost Liverpool £15 million or more, adding to the £120 million they spent on new acquisitions this summer.
