BR POINTS TARGET

At the start of the season Liverpool boss Brandan Rodgers set his side a target of averaging 2 points per game for the entire season. That works out as a 76 point target for the season, but will that be enough for the top 4?

Recent times would say yes, 76 points would be enough with the 2012/13 season needing 73 points to take 4th with only 75 points taking 3rd, and the 2011/12 season only requiring 69 points to take 4th spot.

This season however, teams are dropping points to even the seemingly smaller teams, an example being Cardiff’s 3-2 win over Manchester city.

So who knows, if Liverpool can average 2 points a game, they could even manage a title challenge. However with the current injury problems facing BR, Steven Gerrard, Jose Enrique and Daniel Sturridge being the standout players on the injury list, they need to nurse themselves to the January transfer window, strengthen the first team, whilst getting those players back from injury, I think hitting that points target is more than manageable.

I for one am looking forward to seeing Liverpool F.C back playing in the Champions League… where they belong.
