Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, has refused to rule out the possibility of the club re-calling striker, Divock Origi, from his season-long loan with French side, Lille.

The Reds signed the Belgium striker over the Summer after he impressed in Brazil at the World Cup, but then agreed to loan him out for a season and struck a deal with Ligue 1 side, Lille.

However, with Liverpool struggling for goals, Rodgers is tempted to cancel the loan and bring Origi back to Anfield earlier than expected.

When asked about Origi and his future, the Liverpool boss admitted that the original plan was for the forward to spend the whole season in France, but he refused to rule out the chances of re-calling him in this window.

“That was the original deal [for the player to remain with Lille this season],” Rodgers told talkSPORT.

“There were a few discussions between the clubs in January to see where it was at, but the likelihood is he’ll stay at Lille.”

“I think he’s a real exciting young talent – you saw him in the World Cup,” he added. “He’s got everything… he’s suited to the Premier League.

“He can play through the middle or on the side. Everything is set up for him to come here and do well.”

Liverpool’s current strikers have all been struggling for goals this season, but the club will be boosted with Daniel Sturridge set to return from injury.
