Brendan Rodgers takes blame for loss

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that their 3-1 loss to Hull City on Sunday was his fault, not the players.

Goals from Jake Livermore, David Meyler and a Martin Skrtel own-goal gave Steve Bruce’s men an impressive three-points, which left The Reds fourth in the league and seven points behind leaders Arsenal.

However, Rodgers has refused to blame the players for the shock defeat and he has put all the blame on himself.

“In the main, our form has been very good so I can’t criticise the players too much,” said Rodgers.

“If there’s anyone to blame, blame me as manager. Ultimately it is down to the manager.

“The players have been brilliant over the course of the season, we just had an off day.

“We made mistakes with the goals but we go into two home games and that is what we will focus on.”
