Brighton & Hove Albion have been improving their squad all summer ahead of the 2022/23 season. It was a very busy summer for the Seagulls last season. They finished ninth in the season and they did very well under Graham Potter. When Potter left the club after the first month of Premier League season 2022/23, Brighton were in the top four. Graham Potter transformed this club.

However, they made only four signings in the summer transfer window to add more strength to their squad for the rest of the season.

Albion finished second in the Championship in 2016/17, losing out on the title on the last day as an injury-time goal from Jack Grealish saw them drop points to Aston Villa and hand first place to Newcastle United. Since then they qualified and had a decent 2017-18 season in the league finishing 15th on 40 points, 7 ahead of relegation level.

However, they enjoyed an excellent couple of years still and are deservedly now at the top level. In Potter, they had one of England’s most positive managers and an attractive brand of football that won many admirers. They have plenty of quality too with players.

Brighton play at the Amex Stadium, moving in 2011 from their former home the Withdean. The place will be packed out week in week out this season as they host Premier League football for the 3rd time as fans are now slowly being allowed back. The question now is can they maintain their top-flight status and establish themselves among the country’s elite for years to come?

It was Brighton’s defence that played a real key part in their promotion in their successful Championship season. The likes of Lewis Dunk and Duffy excelled in the Championship for a number of years and have adapted really well to the Premier League as well. Duffy has left now. Brighton are known for digging in deep and maintaining a mean defence. Captain Dunk is leading the defence as centre-back.

In summer 2022, Brighton signed left-back Pervis Estupiñán from Villarreal. They also brought in young centre-back Levi Colwill on loan transfer from Chelsea U21.

In midfield, Brighton are not short of good players. French playmaker Anthony Knockaert was instrumental in their promotion campaign with 15 goals and was the star man for Chris Hughton’s side. Knockaert left the club and Brighton also changed in the last 3-4 years.

Billy Gilmour is the latest addition to the midfield who was part of Chelsea’s Champions League triumph. Brighton needed a solid player after the departure of Yves Bissouma who moved to Tottenham. Their highest-paid player Adam Lallana is also important in his role. Alexis Mac Allister is scoring goals in the current season. He already has 4 goals in 4 matches.

The form of strike pairing Tomer Hemed and Glenn Murray played a big part in Brighton’s promotion in 2016-17. Murray took the responsibility of scoring the goals for the Seagulls and he did a good job. He left the club but Brighton found new winners.

Simon Adingra was the new signing for Brighton as a left-winger. Brighton still relied on their last season’s forwards. Leandro Trossard scored eight goals last season to earn 9th finish for the Seagulls and he is scoring for the club in 2022/23 as well. Danny Welbeck is also in good form and scored six goals last season. Watch & Bet Football =>
