Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he wants to sign a striker in the summer to add to his attacking depth, however, there could be another option for the Chelsea boss, in the form of Patrick Bamford.

Bamford, who is a product of Nottingham Forest’s youth academy has hit been a revelation in the goal scoring charts this season, with the striker scoring 22 goals in this current campaign, for both the MK Dons, and now Derby County.

Bamford joined Nottingham Forest’s youth academy at the age of eight, and was eventually sold in 2012 for a ÂŁ1.5 million fee.

The striker was shipped out on loan last season, scoring four goals in fourteen games, in an injury effected spell at the Buckinghamshire club.

However, Chelsea boss Mourinho decided to send Bamford back to Karl Robinson’s League One side, and the skinny centre forward hasn’t looked back since, having scored an impressive 14 goals in 23 League games, in a real impressive stint at the start of the season, as Karl Robinson’s Dons aimed for the top six.

Twenty year old Grantham born Bamford has had a huge rise over the last few years, having only picked up playing the game at the age of 15, having attended Nottingham High School for Boys, an fee paying independent school.

Bamford scored his final ever goal for the Dons in the 3-3 FA Cup draw with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, leaving the supporters of the club the perfect departing gift.

The striker, who certainly has a wise head upon his young shoulders, then moved on to Championship side Derby County, and made it five goals in seven games for the promotion chasing Rams, in a superb start to his loan spell at Pride Park.

Bamford scored the winner in Derby’s hard fought 1-0 win away at Sheffield Wednesday last night at Hillsborough, and what a superb goal it was, after collecting a pass from Andre Wisdom, the Lincolnshire native took a touch, and curled the ball into the top corner left footed, with the ball crashing in off the under side of the bar, past a beaten Chris Kirkland.

And with Samuel Eto’o stating that he will leave in the summer, now could be the youngster’s chance to step up to the plate, after a superb individual campaign.
