Manchester City have reportedly turned down a bid from FC Schalke worth £8m for academy youngster, Rabbi Matonda.

The Bundesliga outfit has expressed serious interest in the 18-year-old and is expected to come back with an improved offer in the coming days. Matonda has attracted the attention of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich as well.

He started his youth career with Cardiff City but later signed with the Citizens in 2016 for a £500,000 transfer fee. The teenager likes to operate from the wing position and has 8 caps to his name for the Welsh U21 side.

In November 2018, Matonda made his debut for the Wales senior team against Albania, coming on as a substitute for Sam Vokes in a 1-0 loss. His current contract with City is set to run till June 2020.

Pep Guardiola’s side recently sold off Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid for £20m and are also repenting the loss of Jadon Sancho to Dortmund earlier. The latter has jumped into the spotlight with his impressive performances for BVB.

Matonda might be persuaded to make the switch to the German top-flight since his chances of breaking into the City first team looks bleak.
