The Man United defender is also wanted by Celtic

Paddy McNair has emerged as a target for Burnley, according to reports.

The Daily Record is claiming that Burnley have entered the race for the Man United man and could sign him up on a free, with Jose Mourinho more than willing to let the defender leave the club.

Burnley are desperate to add more proven, Premier League names to their squad, in the hopes that it will help them next season in their bid to survive their first season back in the top tier of English football.

Loan deal also possible

However, they’ll face stern competition from Celtic in their bid to land the Red Devils man.

Celtic are also on the lookout for ways to boost their squad in as many ways as possible and despite having already added a defender to the side in Kolo Toure, new boss Brendan Rodgers also wants McNair.

If either side didn’t manage to seal a permanent deal for the 21-year old, United are also willing to let him leave on loan for the time being and then potentially sell him off permanently in the near future.
