Campana on the verge of joining Sampdoria

Crystal Palace midfielder Jose Campana has travelled to Italy this week to have a medical with Sampdoria as a transfer looks increasingly likely.

The Spanish U21 international joined the Premier League side from Sevilla just 12 months ago and signed a four year deal.

Campana could only manage two assists last season for the Eagles although injuries did play a huge role in his campaign last year, restricting him to just 6 appearances in the first half of the season.

His last appearance for Palace came in a 4-1 defeat at home to Fulham back in October and was loaned out to German side Nurnberg with the possibility of a permanent transfer.

But Nurnberg’s relegation from the Bundesliga put an end to their hopes of signing the Spanish youngster, allowing Serie A side Sampdoria to move in.

If Campana does end up signing for the Italian side then he will become the 12th player to see the Selhurst Park exit as Tony Pulis looks to reshape the squad for next season.
