Ex-United defender disappointed with business
Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has expressed his astonishment with his old club for selling striker Javier Hernandez for just £7.3million.
The Mexican hitman left Old Trafford to play for Bayer Leverkusen for that small sum in summer 2015, after falling down the pecking order under Louis van Gaal.
Since then, Hernandez has starred in the Bundesliga, scoring 33 goals in 53 appearances.
And now Ferdinand has admitted that his former club’s decision to sell him was a major mistake.
‘Spurs will have to watch out for my former Manchester United team-mate Javier Hernandez because he is a potent striker who takes his chances,’ Ferdinand told the Evening Standard.
‘I still can’t believe that he joined Leverkusen from Manchester United for just £7.3m last year.
‘When you look at the market today, it was an unbelievable bit of business by Bayer Leverkusen.’
