After leaving the Bluebirds for the Gunners in 2008, the inform midfielder Aaron Ramsey returned to Cardiff City Stadium yesterday and was pivotal in his new side’s 3-0 win after he bagged a double.

“You try nurture and then sell on to the bigger clubs to survive. that`s what Cardiff City did at the time.

“That`s great credit to the people that were here and the academy side of it to bring him through.

“They`re the things the club should be proud of.”

The 22 yr old midfielder has been in fine from this season for Arsenal, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.

He moved to Emirates stadium six years ago but broke his leg in a game against Stoke City in February 2010.

The former Wales captain admits he lost a lot of confidence after the injury and his comeback included a spell on loan at Cardiff City in 2011

“He is a young man, I met him a couple of weeks ago when the Welsh squad were here,” Mackay added

“He popped in and I said to him to make sure that he went easy with us in a couple of weeks time.

“It`s good to see a young British player grasping the nettle at Premier league Level and actually being one of the main men at Arsenal.

“He’s had to bide his time. Sometime maturity and experience comes at different parts of your career.

“But the biggest factor for him is the number of games he is getting on a consistent basis.

“He is beginning to show for club and country what top young talent he is.
