Reports claim Blues approached Italian ahead of Jose Mourinho dismissal
Carlo Ancelotti rejected the approaches of Chelsea Football Club over a month before Jose Mourinho was officially sacked, reports in Italy have claimed.
The Portuguese lost his job following a 2-1 loss to Leicester City in December, but according to reports, Chelsea officials approached Ancelotti sometime in November.
It’s claimed that officials from Stamford Bridge offered Ancelotti the job, expecting Mourinho to be sacked, but the former-Blues boss turned them down.
Ancelotti Heading to Munich Instead
Ancelotti is currently having a one-year break from football following his dismissal from Real Madrid at the end of last season, and is set to take over from Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich in the summer.
However, all could have been different if he accepted the offer made by Chelsea back in November.
It’s believed Ancelotti was only offered the job on an interim basis, similar to what Guus Hiddink was offered, and that is why the Italian rejected the chance to rejoin the club.
