Carlos Vela doesn’t want Arsenal return

Real Sociedad president Jokin Apperibay has confirmed that striker Carlos Vela does not want to return to Arsenal this Summer.

Reports broke yesterday that The Gunners were ready to activate their buy-back clause of ÂŁ3.5million for the Mexican, but the striker himself is not interested in returning to England after his less-than successful spell before leaving.

The forward left the Emirates Stadium two years ago after failing to make an impact under Wenger, and since leaving, he has become a real star in Spain, netting 16 goals this season for Sociedad and he finally believes he has found somewhere suitable for him.

Vela himself admitted that if he did return to Arsenal, he’d do a lot of things differently, but Apperibay is adamant that he doesn’t want to move.

“We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that’s an important factor for Real Sociedad,” said Apperibay.

Vela was used mainly as a cup player during his first-spell at Arsenal, and it’s believed he will be a backup option behind Olivier Giroud.
