Even though the Uruguayan international has only been at at the French club for less than a year, that has not stopped spreculation surrounding the PSG striker with a move to either Manchester United or Chelsea.
It is understood that United made tentative enquiries about Cavani in January and held preliminary talks with his representatives in London last month.
Whereas Chelsea manager has made no secret of his plans to sign a new striker this summer, with Eto’o getting old and Torres and Ba out of form. It is believed that Cavani is on a 3 man shortlist which consists of himself, Radamel Falcao and Diego Costa.
It is believed that Cavani, who has 14 league goals so far this season and a further 4 in the Champions League, is unhappy with life in Paris as he is having to be deployed in a wider role to suit the star man at the club, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The former Napoli man has also had to deal with a divorce from his wife, who gave birth to their 2nd son last year.
But Cavani was quick to dismiss the speculation following his side’s 6-1 aggregate win over Bayern Leverkusen on Wednesday.
“I do not know what they are talking about and this is not true. The things we talk about in the dressing-room should stay in the dressing-room. I feel good in Paris and at PSG.”
Before the game, PSG manager Laurent Blanc blamed the media for spreading rumours about Cavani who has been out with a thigh injury in recent weeks.
“It’s you who creat the rumours about Cavani. The player is injured so he can’t rspond on the pitch. He has some personal problems added to that and people take advantage ot create a Cavani problem. However, the player is happy here.”
