United wants to add defensive reinforcements this summer
Manchester United are expected to bolster their squad this season after falling behind Manchester City in the Premier League this season. Few players are also expected to leave to accommodate new signings.
Jose Mourinho’s priority is to sign defenders this summer. Despite having the second best defense after Manchester City, Mourinho is not happy with the backline.
Manchester United have made Southampton’s Cedric Soares one of their top transfer targets, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Matteo Darmian is all set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season after failing to establish himself under Mourinho, with his contract expiring in 2019. Antonia Valencia has been the first choice but he is going to turn 33 before the next term and the club wants to bring someone to replace him on a long term basis.
Cedric is just 26 years and has been solid for the club. Southampton is headed for relegation and could lose many players, which includes the right back. United are looking to take advantage of this situation and could lure the player to join them.
The Red Devils are also in the market for a new left back as Luke Shaw and Daley Blind are also expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
