Latest reports confirm that Paris Saint-Germain forward, Timothy Weah is close to signing a 6-month loan deal with Celtic.

The 18-year-old is still waiting on words from the PSG hierarchy but is ready to move to Parkhead. Weah, the son of former Balon d’Or winner and footballing legend, George Weah, only moved to Paris in 2014.

He immediately joined PSG’s youth academy and later signed a professional three-year contract in July 2017. He is eligible to represent France, Jamaica and Liberia but chose to play for the USA due to his love for the country and his teammates.

Weah has represented the USA at various levels and also 8 times at senior level, despite being only 18. He has played 143 minutes of senior level football this season and already has recorded 2 goals in 3 games.

Weah’s former teammate, Odsonne Edouard made his move to Celtic permanent last summer after a rewarding loan spell. He is currently the only fit option at strike for Brendan Rodgers and a new signing is essential for the Hoops.

Weah’s claims to the PSG number nine spot is not expected to come anytime soon with Edison Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe all in the side. He might have to develop his game further before being considered for the first team.

This move could potentially open up more doors for the teenager.
