Dembele’s footballing intelligence and maturity was apparent right from the get-go. Blessed with remarkable technical abilities, the 15-year-old did not shy away from taking on players almost twice his size during his first game for the U20s.

The Hoops manager, Brendan Rodgers certainly holds the youngster to high regards and decided to hand him a contract till the end of the 2020/21 season.

After signing his first professional contract, Dembele said, “It means a lot to me to start my professional career at Celtic. I came here at a young age, and, after all the stuff me and family have been through together, it’ll be good to make them proud.”

“I’d like to say thank you to everyone, and I’d like to thank everyone for everything they’ve done for me. I’d also like to thank everyone for the training I’ve received, the discipline I’ve been taught, and the advice I’ve been given all the way.”

“Getting attention at a young age has been hard, but I’ve obviously had my family to help me through that. You need to be strong mentally, you need to stay grounded, and you just need to get on with everything that you do on a daily basis.”

Dembele is left-footed and enjoys playing up front nearer to the goal. He can operate both from central and wing positions.
