The draw for the Champions League takes place on Monday 11 December at 11:00 GMT (12:00 local time). It will be held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, France. The UEFA Europa League round of 32 draw will follow at 12:00 GMT.

There are five English teams involved in the Champions League draw – Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG are also in the draw, amongst others.

In total there are 16 teams, split into two pots depending on their position in the Group stage. Teams from Pot 1 (group winners) will play teams from Pot 2 (runners-up). See below for more information on the seeding.

How does the draw work?

As mentioned, 16 teams go into the draw including champions Real Madrid, who are in Pot 2 having finished second behind Tottenham Hotspur in their group.

At this stage, teams cannot play against opposition from the same country or from the same group. For example, Chelsea (Por 2) cannot face Roma as they played them in the group stage, or the four other English sides from Pot 1, leaving only Barcelona, PSG and Besiktas as possible rivals.

The Champions League draw will be broadcasted live in many countries across the world. In the UK it will be shown on Eurosport 2.

UK residents can also watch the draw live online free with Eurosport Player or via Sky GO. It can also be streamed live worldwide through the UEFA website.
