Charlton confident in Moyes

Sir Bobby Charlton has insisted that Manchester United have definitely picked the right man in David Moyes to lead Manchester United forward.

United have struggled so far this season and go into Tuesday’s derby against Manchester City underdogs at home for the first time in their history. But while Charlton admits that the team have played ‘really, really bad’ this year, he rejects the suggestion that it is time for Moyes to leave the club.

“It doesn’t mean we are going to change everything here. I’m absolutely certain I picked the right man,” Charlton told the BBC.

United host their rivals as they look to close the 11 point gap between themselves and the top 4 places. There has been a sense of acceptance in recent weeks that United aren’t likely to make it into the Champions League next season.

However things have recently began to look up since losing 3-0 at home to Liverpool, they overturned a 2-0 deficit in the second leg of their Champions League tie with Olympiakos, and then won on the road at West Ham on Saturday.

Now Charlton says it’s time for revenge against Man City after The Blues beat them 4-1 at The Etihad in September.

“We are trying to make sure we beat them,” said Charlton, “if we can it will be a tremendous uplifting because we’ve had a fair bit of criticism leading up to this, but I never doubt Manchester United.”
