London duo want to sign former-Manchester United striker

Arsenal and Chelsea are set to do battle for Bayer Leverkusen star Javier Hernandez, according to reports.

The Mexican international has been in red-hot form for the Bundesliga side, sparking questions over why Louis van Gaal let him leave Manchester United over the summer.

United have been struggling for goals with Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial both out of form, and whilst they are struggling, Hernandez is on fire, scoring 19 goals already this season.

Arsenal and Chelsea Keen

After a fruitful start to his Leverkusen career, Hernandez is already being linked with a move back to the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Chelsea interested in signing him.

The Gunners are heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, especially with Danny Welbeck ruled out until February, while Chelsea are struggling in front of goal with Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao all lacking.

Guus Hiddink has already told Roman Abramovich to land a new striker, with Jamie Vardy and Saido Berahino being linked, as well as Christian Benteke.

It’s not yet understood how much the London duo are prepared to pay for the former-United star.
