Chelsea and Manchester City have entered the race, that already includes Arsenal, for French youngster Paul-Georges Ntep.
Ntep was brought through the same youth system as Gunners striker Yaya Sanago and Arsene Wenger hoped to bring the 22-year-old to the Emirates alongside his French compatriot.
However, no formal offer was put on the table from Arsenal.
And after rejecting QPR last summer, Ntep opted instead to join Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennes.
It is understood that Paris-Saint Germain are also interested in the player, who see Ntep as an alternative player to Angel Di Maria, should they fail to lure the Argentine away from Old Trafford.
Reports in France have claimed that both Chelsea and Manchester City have sent scouts to watch Ntep in action over the past few weeks. And now it is to be seen whether or not the two clubs along with Arsenal make any offers for the Frenchman in January, or next summer.
