With Scenes sounding like a Hollywood movie, 11th hour dealings in the corridor between Eva Carneiro and Chelsea Football club ended proceedings then and there.

Eva Carneiro today ended her battle against Chelsea Football club and more particularly for her, Jose Mourinho. Although the settlement amount has not yet been announced (if ever!) it will probably be significantly higher than the £1.2 million offered to her yesterday. More importantly for everyone this episode has been put to bed well before new Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte comes on board, so one who is already used to court appearances will be relieved to know there’s nothing still dangling over the club when he takes charge after Euro 2016.

The one big question here for Chelsea fans still remains…why did such a relatively small event turn into such a catastrophe for the club? It’s true that when Chelsea took to the pitch as Champions last August against Swansea, they didn’t exactly look like the all conquering side of the previous season but still what happened in the last few minutes of that game seemed to set the pattern for the whole of Chelsea’s season….turmoil, collapse and a kind of resignation to their fate so early on.

Mourinho’s blow up and subsequent frustration was so shocking in such an innocuous game and over such an insignificant incident that it must have meant there were surely many demons already running around his head which never unfortunately went away until he did a few months later.

His actions in that game where even Mourinho’s staunchest fan will agree, were totally unjustified. Unfortunately for Chelsea because of their own recent success this was just what the media wanted…such a tight knit happy bunch of brilliant and very good players were suddenly in disarray and the media went to town on them. Mourinho tried fighting back, he dropped the most popular Chelsea player, John Terry, he benched the darling of the Premier League, Hazard, unthinkable, as a half fit, half motivated Hazard is still one of the best players around, such is his genius on the ball that his natural talent is only surpassed by Messi and Neymar. Mourinho lost the dressing room, form dived (except strangely against Arsenal, where however bad they were they still always beat their North London rivals!) and his job went soon after.

Mourinho vs Carneiro wouldn’t go away until in the end it was Mourinho that went away and many many fans hated her for that, even though she was totally innocent and acted completely professionally. Mourinho probably had to go more for his own sanity and mental well-being than anything else.

Real Chelsea fans will always love and cherish and appreciate what Mourinho has done for the club but they will also welcome back Eva with open arms too and since none of her enemies are still around why not? She was as photographed as some of the players, it’s argued some players feigned injury, not to win free kicks but to get treatment from their lovely doctor! Why not let her back and carry on the good work she was doing and as such she would have been totally vindicated.

Mourinho too hasn’t done too badly out of all of this so a happy end for all could be the eventual outcome but the price of the worst season in Chelsea’s history will soon be forgotten when they win the title in 2016/17 !
