Galatasaray have confirmed that Chelsea submitted an offer for Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder last summer, which was quickly rejected.

Sneijder played under Blue’s boss Mourinho whilst the pair were working together at Inter Milan in 2010 where the Dutchman arguably produced his finest football as Inter went on to lift the Champions League that season.

And the Gala president Duygun Yarsuvat revealed the interest that Mourinho held in bringing Sneijder to the Bridge last summer:

“Chelsea made an offer for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season.

“He could have been beside Jose Mourinho, that is the only club he would have joined. But he’s happy at Galatasaray.”

Juventus and Manchester United have were also strongly linked with a move for the 30-year-old in January and is set to be a target for clubs again come the summer.
