Jose Mourinho has publicly said that Chelsea won’t attempt to buy Steven Gerrard on a free transfer next summer.
Although Gerrard stated he may contemplate leaving Anfield, Mourinho said he isn’t interested in the Reds legend, who he failed to sign in his first spell at Chelsea.
“No. “How long can he still play? I don’t know.”
The Portuguese was also asked whether he regrets not signing Gerrard. “No. It was a long time ago.”
Gerrard’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and rumours about a potential move away from Liverpool have circled in recent weeks, with talks over a new contract stalling.
