Chelsea boss unhappy at Hazard’s Champions League decision

Despite a record 6-0 drubbing of Maribor in the Champions League on Tuesday night, the ever-contentious Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, still found the time to be a little controversial in his comments following the game

After 22 minutes of play, and with Mourinho’s Chelsea side only 1-0 up at the time, the Blues were awarded a penalty for a somewhat ‘soft’ hand ball.

The Stamford Bridge faithful would normally have expected Eden Hazard to step up and slot the ball home past Slovenian stopper, Jasmin Handanovic. However, on this occasion, Hazard allowed crowd favourite Didier Drogba to score his first goal for Chelsea since the 2012 Champions League final.

‘I was surprised,’ commented the Portuguese maestro,

‘Not particularly pleased, no. I have my choices and my choice is Eden is the first choice then after that Drogba, Oscar, Fabregas, and Diego Costa are the ones in case Eden is not on the pitch.

‘But because it was a goal, I’m happy.’

Chelsea went on to win comfortably on the night, and will now be looking forward to their weekend clash with Manchester United. This will be looked at as the ideal warm up game, despite being a Champions League tie. Surely there was only ever going to be one winner wasn’t there? The goalkeeper was called Jasmin….come on!

Despite the comfortable win, Mourinho was his usual enigmatic self after the game. Always controversial, never dull. Isn’t that why we love having Jose in the Premier League?
