Chelsea CONFIRM return of Dutch STARLET!

News out of West London today confirmed that Chelsea have recalled Nathan Ake from his loan spell at Bournemouth.

Silly Season’s Ben Kelly brought you the story that Bournemouth had all but confirmed the news on January 7th – and now Chelsea have confirmed it themselves.

The 5ft11 dutch starlet has impressed during his time with the Cherries, so much so that the man in charge in the dugout has decided to bring the 21 year old back into the fold at Stamford Bridge.

The defender has been a key part in Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side, who currently sit ninth in the Premier League after 20 games.

Ake struggled to break into the Bournemouth squad to begin with, but since making his first start with the club away to Stoke City in November, he has played an impressive 720 minutes for the south coast club, racking up an equally imposing three goals in 12 games, including a goal against Chelsea’s title rivals Liverpool, in Bournemouth’s 4-3 triumph in December, add to that 3 clean sheets during his time, and it makes for impressive reading.

It is believed that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been searching for cover for his defensive line, particularly in the wing back role that plays such an important part in the Italians 3-4-3 formation that boosted the Blues to 13 straight wins in the Premier League.

The defender took to Instagram to thank Bournemouth, the staff and the fans of the club, writing:

‘I want to say thank you to all the fans at AFC Bournemouth, I really loved my time at the club and I have learned a lot here.

‘I also want to say thank you to the manager, staff and players for all the support and l wish them the best for the rest of the season.’

Speaking to the media on Saturday, the former Juventus boss said of Ake;

‘Ake is a really good player and now he’s started to play with Bournemouth and is playing every game.

‘Honestly, I’m evaluating his situation, because Ake could be an interesting opportunity in this window for us.’

Clearly, the situation has been evaluated and the result will please the defender in question, who looks to be in line for a chance to impress in front of the Chelsea faithful.
