Chelsea could swap Schurlle for Miranda

Reports have emerged that Atletico Madrid are interested in Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle, and could be willing to let Miranda go in the opposite direction.

The La Liga title holders are looking to strengthen their frontline having lost the key attacking trio of Diego Costa, David Villa and Adrian this summer. They have however bought in the young exciting French winger Antoine Griezmann, but remain in the market for more firepower.

Schurlle is seen as back up to Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian by Jose Mourinho, and the prospect of moving to play regular first team football could sway Schurlle. He scored 8 goals in a total of 30 league appearances for the Stamford Bridge side, although exactly half were substiture appearances.

Brazilian defender Miranda was the stand out player in the Atletico defence during their title winning season, as the club also reached the Champions League final. It’s understood he has a ÂŁ29 million buy-out clause in his contract.

David Luiz’s departure leaves Chelsea light of a centre-back so it could be possible that we see a fourth Atleti player from last season representing the Blues in the 20/14/15 Premier League season.
