The defender is wanted by a number of clubs and reports suggested he might be let go
Chelsea have decided that they will keep hold of Andreas Christensen when he returns to the club.
The defender is currently out on loan in Germany and during his time in the Bundesliga, he has impressed many. So much so, that a number of top European teams are considering moves for the youngster, with even Barcelona believed to be interested.
With all this interest, reports had suggested he might be sold on by Chelsea when he returns from his loan spell.
Replacement for John Terry
He has spent two seasons with Borussia Monchengladbach to gain some more first-team experience and with many believing he wouldn’t get gametime when he goes back to Stamford Bridge, it seemed he might be sold on.
However, Chelsea are adamant that they will play him when he returns, as he could replace John Terry and therefore they will not be letting him go.
Instead, after a few seasons in the Bundesliga, he could finally be set to play first-team football for the Blues in England when he returns to the Premier League.
Antonio Conte is of course looking to bolster his defence still, despite bringing in David Luiz and Marcos Alonso. But, he might not need to look very far for a good defender to add to his side, with Christensen proving his more than capable of doing a good job when given the chance over in the Bundesliga.
