Abramovich’s adviser denies managerial speculation

Roman Abramovich’s adviser has denied Chelsea have agreed a four-year deal for Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.

The Blues are still searching for Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor, after the Portuguese was sacked at the end of last year and have appointed Guus Hiddink on an interim basis.

Allegri, who has won two Serie A titles and reached the Champions League final with Juventus since joining the club in 2014, has been heavily linked with a long-term offer to take over at Chelsea.

However, Abramovich’s adviser said: “That is not true. He is only an option,”

Koeman the man for Chelsea

While the Blues continue their search for the ‘ideal’ coach, who can help the club to long-term success and implement a new philosophy at the club, Glenn Hoddle believes Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is the right man for the job.

“He seems to be a really nice guy,” said Hoddle. “I would probably go on a football front for Koeman. Koeman has been excellent.

“Saints fans won’t like me for saying that, but Koeman for me, with better tools I think he will be on their radar.”

The Dutchman has helped the Saints to seventh so far in the Premier League this campaign and has captured the attention of a number of clubs and the Netherlands national team.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, Antonio Conte and current Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini – who is to leave the club at the end of the season – have all been linked with the managerial vacancy at Stamford Bridge.
